Can anyone tell me why there are no Swedish porn movies made after 1973?
 
Despite extensive research I can't find anything that isn't, Bjorn sporting mullet, hairy chest and medalion and Olga getting her kaftan off to the sounds of Van der Graaf Generator played on a stylophone.  What catastrophic event ocurred in 1973 to make this collosal industry cease? Was it an Asteroid? The little known Stockholm Comet? Or was it Bubonic Plague. How come before 1973 flaxon haired nordic beaties humped their way across cinematic screens across the world, then sudden extinction. It must rank up there with the dinasaurs. Have archaeologists managed to dig up any clue yet?

I think it was Feminism hitting the fan... Swedish feminism is quite...ehm...outspoken... and very much aganst the exploitation of women as sex-symbols... They start screaming at commercials with girls in bikinis I heard... LOL

As said, they still make, but alot of the stuff branded "Swedish" porn was and is actually German which might be a tad confusing. The whole "Swedish sin" thingie was a myth since day one anyway.

That is quite normal -- many companies moved their factories to China, why wouldn't Sweden move her porno industry to Germany. Wink

When emmanuelle was first released here in the states, it was released here ahead of Europe, the distributors weren't completely aware of it's content.  Consequently it was released not only to regular movie houses, but also to that American Icon, The Drive in Theater.  All of them are gone now, but back then they were still going strong.
 
Imagine the impact on traffic when, unaware, they ran the movie on a friday nite.Big smile  The drive in nearest me at the time sat just off the main highway near a traffic circle, [round about].  During one of the opening scenes, there were eleven fender benders.  Traffic was snarled for an hour.
