Topic: Stamps of Pakistan Posted: 01-Feb-2007 at 04:48 |
The stamps issued by Pakistan are discussed:
I would like to initiate discussion on the stamps issued by Pakistan. I start with the above, because of "historical" significance.
This stamp was printed in Pakistan in 2002 to commemorate 5 decades of Japan-Pakistan relations.
Is there any stamp issued to commemorate Indo-Pakistan relationship?

The stamp shown here was presented to President Musharraf during his trip to Japan by the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E Junichiro Koizumi in 2002.

In 1955 a set of three stamps was issued to mark the unification of West Pakistan. One stamp of the three is shown.
In 1956 a set of three stamps with a map of West Pakistan was issued to mark the first session of the National Assembly of Pakistan at Dacca (in the center of the country).

I only found one paki stamp making mention of Bharat aka India, well actually the mention is indirect by inference. It looks like it was issued after the end of the paki civil war of 1971 in which Bharat helped to "liberate" Bangalis from the paki federation. The stamp was part of a propaganda effort to put massive pressure on the Bharat govt to release 90,000 paki POWs who were being held in violation of the geneva convention governing uniformed military personel.

Friends,
Thank you for your response.
All are available in different websites.
Right now, I am busy with three conferences.
