Ahriman has its roots in Ancient Zoroastrianism. It is also known as Angra Mainyu which means malign spirit.

thank you, I know it has zoroastrian root. I was wondering about it's original before zoroaster in central asia or even in india. I am persian and know about it's roots in zoroastrian religion. I taught maybe it is related to some terms like brahman in india or other names. since we know old religion of Iranic and Indic people before zoroaster was one thing. but after zoroaster divs became devil spirit and assistance of saten but they remaind gods and good spirits in indian culture.

As Knights said, Ahriman is just the simplified form of "Angra Mainyu".
Angra Mainyu means "destructive mentality" (versus Spenta Mainyu "progressive mentality"), Avestan Mainyu, English Mind/Mental, Latin Mens, ... have the same Indo-European origin.

Actually, I believe the Iranian Ahriman is in some way related to the Vedic Indian Aryaman.

thank you, but Iran in general means land of aryans and ahriman is satan and demonic spirit in Iranian culture. it doesnt make sence, since they call themselve aryaman too.

The original Indo-Iranians or Proto-Indo-Iranians worhipped two main groups of gods-- One group is known as the Devas in India (Daevas in Iran) and the other is known as the Asuras in India (Ahuras in Iran).
These two groups were rivals but all equally considered gods and good beings until a split or schism happened where in Hinduism in India the Devas became good gods and the Asuras became demons and in Zoroastriansim in Iran the opposite-- the Ahuras became good gods and the Daevas became demons.
All were originally good. Which is why the names of some demons in Iran as well as in India may retain names that don't sound very evil but the opposite.
