In 1519, Megallen named the water body, which was so calm, as "Pacific ocean".
The Atlantic ocean derives its name from the Greek mythology, meaning the "Sea of Atlas." The oldest known mention of this name is reportedly contained in The Histories of Herodotus around 450 BCE.
The Arctic ocean was named recently. Actually oceanographers call it the Arctic Mediterranean Sea or simply the Arctic Sea, classifying it as one of the mediterranean seas of the Atlantic ocean.
Whereas, Indian ocean was known as such even by the Egyptians c.3000 BCE, when they were visiting Punt.
Of course, the trade with IVC during c.2500 BCE is well established one, as they had to come through Indian ocean.
