Hi all!

I'm wondering if any of you know when the first jezail rifles were produced? According to Wikipedia, this is a weapon of Afghan offspring, but in Monsoon by Wilbur Smith, which takes place in the latter part of the 17th century, the jezail seems to be a common weapon to Muslims from Oman and Turkey. So, what is the most accurate date you can provide when it comes to the advent of the jezails?

Jezil means firearm, or longarm genrally. The Afghan jezils were of a diffrent variety thus, some were ancient mathlocks, most were flint locks (First Afghan War) and by the time of the Second Afghan War the Jezils were often rifled precussion weapons. Which outranged the Enfield.
