Which european army in the 18th century do you think was the best?
I think the Swedish army during the great northern war was one the best
because they defeated Danemark-Norway and Saxony-Poland and was only
stopped by the Russians at Poltava. I feel biased...
The Prussian Army under Friedrich der Grosse were the gods of war. They fought off numerically superior armies on multiple fronts for a total of 15 years of warfare (not including the time of peace between the First and Second Silesian Wars).
I, too, am quite biased, because I am something of a "fan" of Old Fritz, but I agree that Frederick the Great's Prussian army was the greatest of them all. Their discipline, mobility and Federick's tactical revolutions and revivals made them demonic when compared to the rest of Europe at that time. They, as Genghis stated, fought on both sides of Prussia effectively, a great feat when one considers the 18th century country's rather indefensible position.
