Well, I beleive Kathryn Lomas has some books pertinent to the Samnites if you care to search. Additionally, John Michel David's The Roman Conquest of Italy would likely contain some relevant info.
Also, you may be able to pick up that Salmon book at a university library.
Well, their is one used I found...for 225 dollars...that's out of the

There is Salmon's work on the Samnites. However, I am actually trying to get this one myself. And I must say, I'm having a doozy of a time trying to get this out-of-print wonder. Maybe you'll have more luck...
