In Uyghur that Uzbek saying goes like this:

I agree, it should be "character".

"Qan bilen kirgen huy, Jan bilen chiqar."

English: The chatacter comes with the blood, goes with the death."

Hamama giren terler.

  • Literal translation: Who enters the Turkish bath will sweat.
  • Meaning: To bear the consequences of one's actions.

Harman yel ile, dğn el ile olur.

  • Literal translation: Winnowing is with the wind, wedding is with the people.
  • Meaning: Every situation has its own requisits.

Her gnlde bir aslan yatar.

  • Literal translation: There lies a lion in every heart.
  • Meaning: Everybody has bravery somewhere in themselves.
 

Her horoz kendi plğnde ter.

  • Literal translation: Every rooster crows in its own pen.
  • Meaning: People take courage from being in familiar surroundings.
Her taş, baş yarmaz.
  • Literal translation: Not every stone will hurt your head.
  • Meaning: You should not be scared of every little obstacle.
      What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.

Bir elin nesi var? Iki elin sesi var!
Literal Translation: What does one hand have ? Two hands have a noise.
Meaning: A person may not be able to do something but if people cpome together they achieve many things.
 
Nerede birlik orada dir(i)lik, nerede okluk orada bokluk.
Literal translation:Where is oneness there is vitality, where is  multitude there is sh.it
Meaning: Solidarity makes good but  multitude and different ideas makes things worse.
 
Cok yasayan mi bilir cok gren mi bilir
Literal Translation: Does he who lives long know things better or he who experiences more know things better?
Meaning Experienced people know things better. 
 
Akil yasda degil basdadir.
Literal Translation: Wisdom is not of your age but of your brain
Meaning:People may be older, but that does not mean that they are clever.

well i heard one but i dunno if its actually exists, it is "ayi'dan post olmaz, rum'dan dost olmaz", i cant translate the first part wich actually hasnt anything todo with Greeks, but the second part "rum'dan dost olmaz" means you cant be friends with Greeks.

    I am not entirely sure that it is a Turkic saying. It sems Anglo Saxon or European to me.

    "Eqil yashta emes, bashta."
    Wisdom isn't dependant on age, rather on head.

    " Qazangha yoluqsang qarisi yuqar, yamangha yoluqsang Yalisi."
    Come close to the pot, you will get black, and come close to bad person, you will get the badness."

    "Nimini terisang, shuni alisen."

    we virtually say the same thing, only diff is we say 10 times.
    (if I'm not mistaken)

        * Literal translation: They asked the camel why its neck was curved. "What of me is straight?" it said.

        * Meaning: Criticizing a detail when the whole thing is done badly.


    This one rings a bell also..  unless i'm confusing it with a proverb
    about a camel hump ??
