Good sayings would be even better with English translations.

Let-me-tryTongue

Trkmenistan"Gılı yarası biter, dil yarası bitmez."

The wound from a knife can heal, the wound from the mouth never heals

Meaning : Phycical wounds can heal and be forgotten, however, phychological wounds from words may never heal and always be remembered leave somthone heart-broken and emotionally hurt - Its emphasising the power of words, so be carefull at what you say.

Trkmenistan "Boş uwal dik durmaz."

Empty Sack doesnt stay Upright

Meaning : Don't be fooled by "image", a person could try to look big and important but if its all image and the personallity/heart is weak they'll topple like an empty sack.

zbekler"Can ıkadı, huy ıkmadı."

(How can you translate "huy" Confused)

Trkmenistan"Dag daga sataşmaz, adam adama sataşar."

"Mountain doesn't hug a moutain, only man can hug man"

I'll leave the others to somebody else, my translations arn't the greatest Embarrassed

'Bashqa bela, til ten kelger'

All misfortunes happen to man, by his tongue.

'Tangry beraqaysa qolun qa, ketyryp qoyghor yolun qa - Tangry bermaqaysa qolun qa, byr tapylmas bolun qa'

'If God wish to grant (something) to his slave, God will bring it on his way - If God doesn't wish to grant to his slave, nothing would be found, even in the case of adundance.

'Aghzy byrke Tangry byr; aghzy alaqny qangryp ir'

'For united people, God is uniqe. Tear the people who aren't united'.

translating Turkish sayings into english is silly i think, because it hasnt his original value and it is mostly not understandable to english speakers.

So i'll continue with Turkish sayings;

"yigidi vur ama hakkini yeme"
"Cahil adam fkesine kapilan biridir"
"Bir insan 7'sinde ney ise, 70'inde'de o'dur"
"Her yigidin yogurt yiyisi baskadir"
"balik su'da yan gider"
"olacak oglak bokundan belli olur"

if someone interested in it, he should try to translate.

Your correct to a certain extent, like "Bal tutan parmagini Yalar" but some can be translated with its meaning.

Like

"The one who told the truth was kicked out of nine villages"Big smile

or

"In life one person understood me and he understood me wrong"

"yigidi vur ama hakkini yeme"

You may kill a hero but give him his respect and acknowledge his heroics

Meaning : Even if you hate someone and despise them if they are brave/heroic/respectable/honourable acknowledge him/her this and show respect!

A great proverb

Bilmemek ayip degil, sormamak ayip.
It is not disgraceful to ask, it is disgraceful no to ask.

  • Anlayana sivrisinek saz, anlamayana davul zurna az.
    • Literal translation: To one who understands, a mosquito is a lute, to one who does not understand, a drum and zurna are little.
  • Bekara karı boşamak kolay.

    • Literal translation: Divorcing a wife is easy for a single guy.
    • Meaning: If somebody is looking at the situation from outside, he can't fully comprehend it.
Blbl altın kafese koymuşlar, ah vatanım demiş.
    • Literal translation: They put the nightingale in a golden cage, it still craved for its home.

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.

Cahile sz anlatmak, deveyi hendekten atlatmaktan zordur.
    • Literal translation: Explaining something to an ignorant person is harder than making a camel jump over a ditch.

Deveye sormuşlar neden boynun eğri. "Nerem doğru ki?" demiş.

    • Literal translation: They asked the camel why its neck was curved. "What of me is straight?" it said.
    • Meaning: Criticizing a detail when the whole thing is done badly.

    Doğru syleyeni dokuz kyden kovarlar.

    • Literal translation: They will expel him who speaks the truth from nine villages.
    • Meaning: Who always speaks the truth is not popular.
    • Note: "Dokuz" (nine) displays alliteration with "doğru" (truth).

ر گل مو وار بو گلشن ﻋالمدﻪ خارسز
Bir gl m var bu glşen-i lemde dikensiz
