Under the camo cover, the US helmet looks nothing like the german helmet.

Yes it dos and plus I have a uncle in the military and they call it the German style helmet.

Los of countries copy the german helmet, is b/c it was the best design, and in the history Channel they did a research of helmets in WW 1 WW2 they say that the German helmet was a lot stronger built because of the design and it covered more of your head.

look at this

oh but I love those commie bear hats!

They are called Ushankas and they are not necessarily made of Bear( the ones used by the common soldiers are sure as hell not) I have one, great for cold winters. Don't use it much because here it is summer all year long.

[quote]oh but I love those commie bear hats![quote]

I had one too! Ha ha. Light blue Soviet military issue, bought from Kurds in Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. Nothing like the good old hammer and sickle to shock the petit-bourgeois. )

I actually wanted to buy a Soviet vehicle crew headgear, but it was too uncomfortable with the primitive intercom wiring...

yes, WITH the cover it gives the impression of a german helmet. Here it is without it. Notice shape is different and is has no long rear like the wehrmacht's, which was influenced by roman helmets pehaps. Not sure.

The uniform that looks most like the wehrmacht uniform can only be of course...:

the uniform of the Chilean army! No wonder, the Chilean was strongly influenced by the Prussian army in the 19th century and it is sometimes called the last Prussian army in the world.

I agree with the roman helmet.

The German helmet in question (late WWI/WWII) is actually specifically based on the German Medieval helmet known as the sallet:

Turkish janisarry robbed from their Christiand families, usually forced to accept Islam and then having to dress like this- (dress uniform)
I am sure it was really an honor for the Janissary who embraced Islam and became a holy warriors for Allah. (no disrespect meant)

I feel sorrow for the families who had their sons taken away- usually never see them again!!
The costume looks silly by our standards but the Janisarries were amongst the bravest warriors in history!!
