Turkey or Iran would be the most powerful.
Had this day been wanting, the world had never seen the last stage of perfection to which human nature is capable of attaining.

Anyone have a count of how many total missiles are in the arsenals of Turkey, Iran and Pakistan currently and what their ranges are? I saw some random video on utube of some Irani general bragging that they make a few dozen missiles every day almost now. Is this true? What is the current deployable stock of all missiles in these countries?

How can you say Malaysia or Indonesia? I don't know how stupid u guys are. Malaysia is on the other side of the world. With only about 30 million people. They don't need to haave an army. They are rich though. Indonesia just got hit buy tsunamis and stuff like that they can't take care of themselves. Turkey is te strongest and most modern Muslim nation.

Then i would say

Indonesia
Malaysia
Kazakhstan

And few more,

Sadat an incompetent ruler? His gifted policy on promotion of peace doesn't mean that he was an "incompetent person"... He was one of the important men that our 20th century had seen.

Remember What happened to armies of "competent" Nasser in Six-Day War..And remember Arab success in Yom Kippur War under Sadat's "incompetent" leadership...

About others,

Indonesia and Malaysia, don't have that huge air and naval power they require in such a position, especially in Indonesia's case, land power would mean nothing except the Marine Forces...

Kazakhstan's population is unfortunately too low to be one of the contenders.

This is very hard to prove true or false, or even to give correct an up-to-date accounts of missile stocks, as I think that most countries would prefer their enemies not knowing it.

The number of missiles they have is not the real concern - it is how accurate their guidance systems are, how far their range is, and (of course) what payload they will carry when launched.

I've been told that the Iraqi SCUDs could have been devastating but they couldn't hit the light side of a mountain with them.

One of the downfalls of the evolution of warfare is the creation of missiles in the first place. You can destroy thousands of lives from many miles away so you lose the moral compass point in the action. Whereas a foot soldier that is fighting within sight of his enemies must deal with the backlash of seeing a foe fall by his actions... not so with a missile command crew. Their part in the destruction of the enemy is speculative from their point of view.

In order to make war a last resort we must maintain the level of horror that war means in the minds of mankind. Otherwise we would find ourselves rushing off to war for the slightest thing. Only horrific bloodshed will prevent us from becoming lovers of war. Politicians pit the lives of the people against others entirely too flippantly for my tastes as it is... as an American i have torn feelings about war itself. I feel that our society has lost the purpose that we once had on the subject of war.

Egerturk, everybody has his own opinion. You can discuss and refuse an opinion in a civilized manner. But to call a fellow forumer an "ignorant" just because he/she expressed his own opinion politely, that is against the code of conduct.
Consider this as an official warning.

All other forumers, make sure you understand the AE code of conduct before posting as two warnings have been issued already in regard to this thread.

well you cannot say others to stop discussing something as long as they discuss it in a dignified manner, the forum is meant for debate and discussion.

a country's military strength depends not only on the weapons it possess but also in its military character and willingness to fight till the end.
which is lacking in turkey whereas iran has both the weapons as well the willingness so does malaysia.
the guerillas of palestine(their new government)lacks weapons but their willingness to fight for their cause against the most powerful war machine in the region(israel)is very very high.

Errr...

I didn't even know this could be discussed. Let alone for 10 pages. Please people, there is only one muslim nation that can deply half a million men when needed, backed by long range nuclear warheads. Pakistan of course, when another country gets nuclear weapons, then and only then can you begin to discuss this.

Turkey lacks willingness to fight till the end and military character? Based on what you drew that conclusion?

Rethinking, we can do so, and as you are not discussing in a dignified manner, maybe we should?
