One of my hobbies is writing western calligraphy.  I am doing a piece for a friend's birthday tommorrow. What are the rules governing the use of a partial verse of Scripture?

I am copying Ephesians 5:20

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her

I don't have room to continue the sentence

to sanctify her, cleansing her by a bath of water with the word....

So, if I am only going to copy to ... over for her, how do I end the quotation? Do I use (... .) or can I add a period (.) or do I just leave it blank, without a punctuation mark? (her)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to use an ellipsis.

'd say use ...

It makes it instantly clear that the sentence goes on, without being obtrusive.

But if the quote is part of a decorational border or something, just use nothing...
