In a general history post, Whitestag mentioned that the Canadian Gov. is threatening to enact a military draft.  Is this true and if so what is their justification?

I answered that post. I read 3 newspapers(2 national ones) today and I didnt see anything about. Harper is pretty strong but he's not crazy. Canada has a whole is not very warlike and a draft would not go over well in Canada.

I have not heard of that either. I think it is HIGHLY unlikely.

If Canada does that, it will definitely give extra ammunition for Quebec separatists to justify Quebec independence.

I thought Harper was Alberta's boy.

How come Albertans always disown everyone they send into federal politics? They seem to thrive on dissatisfaction.

I live in B.C. which is very peace activist heavy to put it in a less slang of a term. I'm not a rich Albertan. Though they would disown him to if a draft came about . I do like Harper though and cant stand the NDP leader.

There are good reasons to like Harper if you want to see Canada turning into a United States under Bush.
