Noah probably built his ark on one of the eastern segments of the Nile Delta. This area was kept dry by a system of dykes upstream. During the flood season, these dykes were possibly destroyed deliberately which created the flood. But it was only the eastern segment of the Nile Delta which Noah's people were living on. The Ark was simply washed into the Mediterranean Sea and this was the "flood" as far as the eyes can see, and they eventually landed off the coast of modern day Syria or Lebanon, because the people from this region were considered by ancient historians to be the founders of Babylon (ie. Babel Tower, moved east into the plains of Shinar). This is the reason the people who had never seen rainbows before suddenly started seeing rainbows often. Because it didn't really rain in Egypt and all their water needs were provided by the Nile. They had been moved from a region that didn't rain to a region with significant enough rainfall to generate a rainbow.

The Nile Delta was also heavily forested at some point so there was tons of wood available for ships.

(But then there's the moon... some things about it are a little too strange aren't they? What if we were meant to believe we're all from an ark? What if there's another actual ark besides Noah's ark?)
